What and how to lubricate the chain of a yamaha ybr 125 motorcycle or not to smear it at all? Selection of videos

I drove my motorcycle for a thousand kilometers, passed the first and second maintenance. And at the second maintenance I asked the question, is it necessary to smear the chain on the mote?

The master replied that it is NECESSARY to lubricate the chain every 500 kilometers! And he advised smearing the chain with transmission oil, which is cheap.

Well, we read the forums and ask our friends how to lubricate the chain correctly and how often.

After re-reading almost all the messages about the chain on the Yubra forum, I was able to identify several options for tips on its lubrication.

The main goal when lubricating a chain is to keep it clean and lubricated inside!

1) Smear the chain with transmission when the chain becomes dirty or after rain. Probably the best option in terms of labor and money. Buy a liter of transmission oil and when the chain is contaminated – smear the insides with this very oil. Beforehand, it is desirable to wash the chain with diesel fuel (diesel). If you have a chain NOT O ring, then you can wash the chain with anything: gasoline, whitespirite and other detergents. Well, if Oring – then wash either with special means or diesel fuel.

2) Smear the chain with special balons. But the cylinders are expensive, or rather more expensive than the transmission. The advantages of balon lubrication are speed. I splashed and went :-).

3) Smear the WD-40 chain. So few people do – but do! The disadvantage of this lubricant is that WD-40 is sticky and dirt will begin to stick closely to the chain! Therefore, it is better to refrain from this method, and if you have anointed the WD-40 chain, then wipe the outer sides of it with a rag to remove unnecessary stickiness.

4) Do not smear the chain at all! There are those who do not lubricate the chain, or lubricate it every 3-4 thousand kilometers. In principle, this also has its plus, you spend time lubricating the chain, and accordingly money + consumption for oil cans. For example, a can costs 100 hryvnia, and a new cheap chain can be bought for the same 100 hryvnia. Thus, you will spend time and the price of the new chain on lubricating the chain. But that's true of the cheap chain. So usually the chain costs 250 UAH. and if it is smeared, it will last a little longer than if it is not smeared.

5) Special machine for cleaning and lubricating the chain. The most expensive way to care for the chain. The machine costs money! But if you have an expensive mot then it may be worth buying this machine.

Conclusions on the lubrication of the chain that I made:

The chain will smear the chain with transmission oil as needed, i.e. when it becomes contaminated. Agree, it is stupid when you are driving on the road to stop, because it's time to smear the chain. I will also wash the chain from time to time with diesel gasoline, because I have a simple chain – not Oring.

That's basically all I wanted to write about. To smear or not to smear the chain is up to you. But as the mechanic said – if you do not smear the chain for a long time – it will begin to rattle.

And here are a couple of videos from YouTube, how people in real life smear a chain.. Alas, mostly not a cheap balloon:

And here's a video of cattleweigher lubrication:
