How to rent a scooter in Tai?
Very simple. You need to find car rental companies, usually it says "Bike for Rent" and rent a scooter. BUT!:
– First, ask your friends or vacationers, and where is it better to take a scooter, because in any place there are good rental and not so good.
– If you have not been advised anything, then find out the following from the tenants: whether a passport is needed as a pledge, there is insurance on the scooter.
– If a passport is required as a pledge, then it is better to look for another rental office (although it happens that everyone requires a passport, depends on the place where you are resting)
– Take a picture of the scooter when renting, so that you do not later attribute scratches.
– Ride a scooter to check the brakes.
Personal experience of renting a scooter in Tai
In one place I gave my Ukrainian passport as a pledge. In other places, there was enough photocopying of the passport, i.e. I did not leave anything as collateral at all.
We photographed the scooter only a couple of times, because usually scratches are not particularly looked at, because scooters are usually all already a little scratched. That is, there were no problems with the return of the scooter.
How much does it cost to rent a scooter in Tai
The cheapest scooter costs 5 USD per day. If you rent a scooter for a month, the price will be 100-120 USD per month. That is, for a long time to take a scooter is more profitable.
An expensive scooter, such as Honda PCX – 150 cubes, will cost 13 USD per day Motorcycles also cost about $ 15 per day. Keep in mind that in Tai, they drive slowly, so there is nowhere to fly there.
Complete with a scooter or bike, they give only a helmet, yes, which will protect only from a fine but not from a head injury.
Yamaha Fino Scooter Riding Experience
The scooter is very small and lightweight. Riding it is not very comfortable. When turning around, sometimes you catch the legs of the passenger with your feet. I.e. some kind of painfully small scooter. I liked it the least. In addition, he has a hook for things on the side of the seat, not the steering wheel. Therefore, even the dolls are not convenient to hang. The trunk under the seat is also small. Therefore, I do not recommend renting it. Except for people whose height is less than 170.
Honda Scoopy Scooter Riding Experience
Something reminiscent of the same Yamaha Fino. But a little bigger and hook on the right side. You can ride it in principle, especially if you like retro scooters. The disadvantages include all the same light weight and a small trunk under the seat. But overall, I liked driving a Honda.
Yamaha Nuovo Scooter Riding Experience
The most normal and largest scooter of all tested. Compare with the Honda Ckick, which alas, I did not test, but as they say – it is convenient to ride on a click, so you can also safely take it. On Nuova, you can already drive normally along the highway with your 70-80 km per hour. Legs can also be comfortably positioned. And in the trunk under the seat helmet climbs. Well, the disadvantages of the model include the crossbar in the middle. That is, it is not so convenient to carry a dollop or a backpack in front of you.
Yamaha Filano Scooter Riding Experience
I rode it the most, I really liked it in appearance. It has tractor traction, i.e. smooth acceleration and a large trunk under the seat. In short, I really liked the scoot. Riding it is a pleasure. But it drives certainly slower than Yamaha Nuovo and Honda Click. More precisely, you can accelerate it in the same way, but speeds above 60 are not for him. Unstable becomes. So for long distances of more than 50 km, it is better to move on Nuov or Click or scooter-bike on a more powerful. Another feature of Filano is that the gas tank is not under his butt but in front. That is, in order to fill up the scooter, you do not even need to get up (if there is a refueler). In short, the charm :-).
Conclusions about scooters in Thailand
If you come for a long time, I recommend testing each scooter. And if not for a long time, then it is best to take either Yamaha Nuovo or Honda Click. If the money is there and you are not small, then the Honda PCX is ideal for you – it is really big, but also costs 2.5 times more expensive than the rest.
In general, riding a scooter in Tai is a pleasure and much cheaper than riding a taxi!
