Last weekend, I had the opportunity to visit the Harley-Davidson Demo Ride Tour 2013. In fact, this is a free test ride of Harley Davidson motorcycles and this event takes place in many cities in Europe.

About 20 Harley motorcycles are brought to the test ride. By appointment, you can ride one of them. But as practice shows, you can ride on two-three-four, due to the fact that someone does not come to the appointed time and you can ride at this time.

How to get to harley's test ride

On the official Ukrainian website, Harley Davidson, 2-3 weeks before the event, post information about the upcoming test ride. Next, you need to call and register for a test ride. You will be asked to choose a motorcycle and time by phone.

The official website by the way is here: http://harley-davidson-kiev.com.ua

15 minutes before the specified time, you need to drive up to the Harley salon :-).

It is necessary to have a category A license, closed shoes and pants with you. The rest of the equipment will be issued! But if you have equipment, then of course it is better to come in it and not rent anything (it's free, just a queue).

Important! You can not take anything with you on a trip in terms of a bag, backpack, etc. Therefore, it is better to come light.

Next, you will be given a coupon with the number of the motorcycle. Before leaving, a brief briefing will be held and actually on the way.

In 2013, we traveled from the Nivka metro station to the Air Fleet Bridge and back in a column.

There was no other entertainment, although in Moscow they even say they give free food and arrange shows. In Ukraine, they only ride :-).

Personal experience of Harley Davidson Demo Ride Tour 2013

I called, checked in, 15 minutes before the specified time I arrived at the Harley Davidson salon in Kiev.

Next, it was necessary to confirm the registration. And there was a small queue, BUT, those who are assigned in the queue do not need to stand.

Then I gave my license and received a card with the number of the motorcycle on which I will go. By the way, the number on the wing of the mot is pasted. There was time to wander around to take pictures of the moths and the truck that brought them:

And here is the parking where you could put your mot:

5 minutes before arrival, the marshal (chief) whistled the whistle and gave a brief briefing. We go in a convoy of 2 motorcycles. That's basically all :-).

Next, we sat down at the moths, started the engines and … drove 3 meters to build. And then we just went to town for a guide. We drove not so slowly, somewhere 60-80 km per hour. The peculiarity of Harley from other mottes is the non-standard arrangement of turn signals. Direction indicators are buttons on the left and right side of the steering wheel. I pressed the button – the turn turned on, pressed again – turned off. It's kind of unusual. But it's the little things.

I enjoyed riding Harley :-). It steers perfectly, although heavy – 250 kg. Before that, I rode only on ybr 125 and scooters, so it was slightly unusual to feel the weight and power under me.

In fact, we drove to the Povitroflotsky Bridge and back. We finished the run at 12-40 and started at the beginning of the 12th. That is, everything was on schedule. Every hour for the run.

That's pretty much it. Then I took my license and drove home in a skirt.

Harley's impressions are only positive. It is a pity that they are much more expensive in Ukraine than in the United States. For example, roadster they cost from 9000 USD, and we have from 15000 … there is a very big difference in price.

And it is also sad that such classic motorcycles are not imported to Ukraine :(. We can only highlight the Kawasaki W800. There are no more similar models on the Ukrainian market. But sometimes you want to sit down at an ordinary bike and ride slowly around the city … And for these purposes, Harley is ideally suited.

UPDATE: As the organizers wrote in a thread on the coil forum, during the demo ride tour, they took away the helmet and motorcycle jacket that were given to the participants. Here is what the organizers themselves write:

"However, there was also an unpleasant moment. After the event, the organizers discovered that one of the participants forgot to hand over the jacket and helmet. Considering that last year Tony and Helen recognized our event as one of the best in Europe, now we were extremely uncomfortable in front of our colleagues."

That's the kind of country we have…
