A couple of months ago, I ordered a moto lock from China with a built-in brake disc alarm. I would like to share a review about it and give a couple of tips to those who want to order the same thing.

Why do I need a motorcycle lock with an alarm system for a motorcycle?

The answer is simple – in order to be able to leave the motorcycle not for long in the zone of visibility-audibility. Also, this lock is useful for traveling with a tent. Because if anything – you will hear how your motorcycle will be rolled back :-).

In addition, if someone sits on a bike – then again, the signal will scream and this will scare off lovers of pawing someone else's.

Another big plus of the lock – it does not drain the battery! That is, it is a completely external device.

Takes up little space.

In general, there are many advantages.

The cons are the price. If you want to buy a branded lock on the disk – then get ready to pay from 100 bucks to 100 euros! That's how much the branded Abus and Kovix cost.

I'll talk about a Chinese fake that costs 20 bucks.

Review of the Chinese Moto Brake Disc Lock

Alas, I did not take any photos of the castle, so everything is taken from the Chinese site Aliexpress. However, there is not much to add to these photos.

So, the lock itself, this is what it looks like in the package:

As you can see, the package includes only the lock itself + 2 keys to open it.

The main disadvantage – which actually destroys the lock as an alarm:

To turn on the signal – you need to press the button with the key! That is, first you close the lock (snap without a key), and then on the other side to turn on the signal you need to stick a key (or any object that climbs) and hear "1 pip". That is, in fact, any fool with a spoke or a thin key can turn off the signal!

You can of course snap the lock so that the rear hole is inaccessible, for example, the wheel disk can completely close that hole. But then, when removing from the signal – the lock in any case will squeak, because you will first need to open and remove it, and then turn it off – by pressing the internal button.

To change the batteries in the lock – you need to unscrew 2 screws. I will say right away – that one screw in any case will close the brake disc, i.e. the attacker will not be able to lead the lock.

Replacing the batteries will fly into a penny, because there are as many as 6 of them, such as LR44:

I didn't test for water resistance. So I do not know what will happen to the lock in the rain, I think I must withstand, because batteries are in plastic. Some amount of water will definitely withstand.

How and when he squeaks:

The motion sensor works fine if the mot is tilted or rocked – the lock punctures for 3 seconds. If you continue to pump the mot after that, you will start yelling for a certain amount of time. By the way, he yells normally, he is unpleasant nearby.

The lock is turned off without a signal – i.e. just press the internal button with a key and that's it – the signal is removed.

Once again we pressed – we heard "Pip" – the signal was set.

My impressions:

In general, the lock is normal, if not for the bug with the power button. Those who like to sit on the mote are deterred and okay. Well, at night near the tent it is not so terrible to leave a mot and are afraid that it will roll away, the lock, if not squeaky, will at least complicate the task of transferring the motorcycle.

Tip for choosing a lock:

To be honest, if I could return the purchase – then I would buy the same Chinese lock – but without the power button! Therefore, carefully look at all the photos of the lock – if there is no hole on the other side with the sign "Power" – then everything is OK. So the alarm is turned on by the machine when the lock is closed. If this hole is there – then it is better not to take the lock.

By the way, in Ukraine, such locks are sold for 300 hryvnia, despite the fact that it costs 200 in China. Therefore, think for yourself – take here or wait a month and take a little cheaper.
